Mergers & Acquisitions

The problem:

Mergers & acquisitions are a time of transition that if managed badly can result in a huge range of problems.  Employees sense of identify can be threatened by an acquisition to such an extent that they either choose to leave or struggle to feel a part of the newly merged organisation.  Many acquiring companies lose hugely talented people as a result of the way they manage the change.

Every organisation has its own unique culture made up of the history of the organisation, its underlying values and the way that people relate to each other on a day to day basis.  Elements like this combine to become  ‘the way we do things around here’.  An organisation’s culture is often unspoken but has a wide-ranging effect.  It can cause problems such as:
